Robert M. Donnelly, Sr. (1939-2010)

As a senior member of management for Micron Technology (NYSE: MU) in Boise, Idaho, Bob Donnelly led the Company’s Memory Products group to $4 billion in revenue, establishing it as the last of its kind in the U.S. and well-regarded global competitor. In addition to numerous technical achievements in DRAM, SRAM and Flash, Bob also initiated Micron’s foray (and acquisitions) into new technologies such as CMOS image sensors.

Bob began his 30 plus year career in the semiconductor industry at Texas Instruments (a division he later acquired for Micron) followed by 15-years with the memory pioneer Mostek in Dallas, Texas. At Mostek, he discovered, patented and championed what became the industry standard for memory chip design and manufacturing: ion implantation on silicon gate.

Bob received his Bachelor and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Speed Scientific School at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. In 2001, he was honored as the Alumnus of the Year for his contributions to the electronics industry and University.

He was an active private equity, real estate and principal investor for over 30 years.
